What are the most effective policy steps Canada can take to reach destination net zero?
At GLOBE Forum 2024, the Canadian Climate Institute, in collaboration with the Trottier Family Foundation, explores this question through the Reaching Destination Net Zero track.
Canada has made significant progress toward net zero thanks to strong federal policies such as the Clean Fuel Regulations, draft methane regulations for oil and gas, and a zero-emissions vehicle sales target. But, as our latest Early Estimate of National Emissions shows, more action is needed to reach Canada’s 2030 climate target and be on track for net zero emissions by 2050.
Through plenary talks, interactive workshops, and panel discussions, we’ll explore the policies that will support Canada to reach net zero , and keep us competitive in the global clean energy transition.
