Chris Derickson

Chris is a teacher, facilitator, storyteller and leader driven by curiosity and a desire to serve. Coming from a mixed background of syilx and Cree, Chris weaves Indigenous knowledge into his work through storytelling, language, and land based learning. He approaches life and work through enowkinwix (syilx world view). With over 25 years of experience in the public and private sector he brings a unique combination of skills and knowledge. Chris has served as elected Chief and Councillor of Westbank First Nation, Chair of the Okanagan College Board of Directors, a Founding Partner and CEO at Alderhill Planning and as faculty at the University of Arizona’s Native Nations Institute. Currently Chris is serving as VP of Business Development at Naqsmist. A recognized and awarded leader, Chris is a Business in Vancouver 40under40 award winner, is a sought after keynote speaker and consultant, but sometimes he’d rather be reading philosophy up at his family’s trapline cabin. He holds a degree in Political Sciences from UBC-O, a Juris Doctor from UBC Law, and an MBA from the Beedie School of Business.
