Kwatuuma Cole Sayers
Kwatuuma Cole Sayers (Hupačasath Nation) grounds his work in Nuu-chah-nulth principles of hišimłuwa (working together) and ʔiisaak (respect) to strengthen Indigenous leadership in building resilient, future-ready electricity infrastructure. He supports First Nations in advancing governance, ownership, and economic opportunities across the electricity sector, championing First Nations-led and partnered projects.
As the inaugural Executive Director of the Indigenous Power Coalition (IPC), Kwatuuma works to reverse the traditional development model—so First Nations act as proponents, not participants, in major infrastructure projects. IPC advances First Nations-led transmission as a practical blueprint for moving beyond inclusion toward genuine Indigenous leadership in how critical infrastructure is conceived, governed, and built.
