Muhammad Talha

Research Associate, Sustainable Finance
Mississauga, ON

Muhammad has a research background in sustainable finance, sustainability taxonomy development, and climate-aligned capital allocation, with particular expertise in the buildings and circular economy sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Biology from the University of Toronto Mississauga and a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from the same institution.

Muhammad developed his expertise in taxonomy development while working as a Senior Sustainability Research Analyst at Corporate Knights, where he led the development of the Corporate Knights Sustainability Taxonomy, a sector- and activity-level classification framework used to assess green and transition economic activities across a global universe of more than 5,000 companies. In this role, he has built deep technical knowledge of buildings-sector screening criteria, translating climate and sustainability objectives into measurable, decision-useful indicators that distinguish green, transition, and non-aligned economic activities. Muhammad is committed to bridging the gap between technical sustainability frameworks and real-world investment decisions, ensuring that taxonomy methodologies are both analytically rigorous and practically applicable for capital markets. Above all, he is dedicated to advancing credible, evidence-based sustainable finance tools that support Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy.
