Peter WB Phillips

Peter WB Phillips is Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Founding Director of the Johnson-Shoyama Center for the Study of Science and Innovation Policy at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Phillips practised as a professional economist for 13 years in industry and government and for the last 23 years has held an array of professorial appointments and chairs at University of Saskatchewan, including the Van Vliet Research Professorship and an NSERC-SSHRC Chair in Managing Technological Change in Agriculture. His research focuses on governance of technological change, especially in the biosciences. He was director of the virtual College of Biotechnology, director of the Masters of International Trade program and founding director of the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. He has had visiting appointments at the London School of Economics, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, European University Institute in Florence, University of Edinburgh, Institute for Advanced Studies at University of Western Australia, Chatham House and University of Technology Sydney. He was a founding member of the Canadian Biotechnology Advisory Committee and was on the boards of the Canadian Agri-food Policy Institute and Ag-West Bio Inc.
