Regulatory Reform

Canada requires a massive build-out of clean energy, critical minerals, and other clean growth projects to meet our climate goals and maintain our competitiveness in global markets.

The success of this build-out hinges on both the efficiency and effectiveness of Canada’s regulatory review system. It needs to be efficient enough to speed-up competitive, transition-accelerating projects at the pace and scale required by the global energy transition. And, it needs to be effective enough to allow for public input, meaningful engagement with Indigenous Peoples, and respect for environmental safeguards.

Our research explores how Canada can design a regulatory review system that strikes a balance between efficiency and effectiveness and protects our long-term social and economic interests.
